Tiny Giants Puppetry Workshop: Make Your Own Puppet!

Looking for an engaging, creative activity for your venue? Tiny Giants is a playful, hands-on puppetry and drama workshop for children aged 5-11 that brings everyday, overlooked materials to life.

During the session children are guided step by step through crafting their own puppets from recycled materials such as cardboard tubes, plastic bottles and newspaper, bringing them to life through imagination, making, and performance. Each child leaves with their own handmade puppet and plenty of new ideas to keep creating at home.

  • What Happens?

    • Explore: We investigate the lifecycles and journeys of everyday items, imagining where they came from before they came to be where they are today
    • Design: A hands-on making session where children learn how to transform these recycled materials into unique characters.
    • Perform: The group brings their puppets to life through drama games and works together to create their own short performance.
  • Why Take Part?

    • Boosts Confidence: Speaking through a puppet removes self-consciousness, creating a low-pressure space for children to express themselves and share stories.
    • Playful Sustainability: It turns recycling into a tangible process, sparking a long-term curiosity about how we use and reuse materials.
    • Sparks Creative Writing: Exploring what these objects were and what they could become gives children fantastic narrative hooks to write about later.
